Without him, I am nothing.
April 4, 2021

Today, I awoke to the sunrise.  “He is Risen” we say in the Christian faith.

He is Risen!

For years, I’ve tried to understand the concept that Jesus is risen from death.  What does that mean? How does that look? How is it possible that a man, both human and God, died on a cross, lay entombed and 3 days later, rose from the dead?

Do I really believe that, as a Christian?  Can I allow my mind to wrap around it and see it to be true? Do I stake my claim, as a believer on that concept? The world has celebrated it for centuries, but when everything falls away, do I believe it?  I ask myself these questions.

Today, as I watch the sun peak above towering trees, I stop and whisper “He is Risen”.  As cascades of black fade to brilliant hues of blue, then rose, and gold, I close my eyes and breathe in the power of those words:  “He is Risen.”

I let that promise seep into my soul. Not because I understand it or because my human mind or heart has figured it out. But I stop and say “He is Risen” because without Him, I am nothing.

Without this one hope, a fragmental and supernatural event, I am nothing.

My identity finds its roots here. Everything rests on this one, eternal moment.
From my conception until my last breath, my life is for this moment.

Here – in this place, I am reminded that I am merely here so the world can see His face.  Not for spreadsheets, not for taxes, not even for writing.  I am here – solely and completely- so the world can see Him.

Once, in your lifetime, if you see Him and feel His love upon your face – then it mattered.  Then my life, in some small and sharded way, mattered.  Like splintered glass on a wooden floor, life sometimes lays at your feet.

It is all worth it if you see Him reflected in my broken pieces.

Today we celebrate “He Is Risen.”

Today, we praise His name!

————————————–
I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned.
I am alive and well, Your sprit is within me,
Because You died and rose again.
Amazing Love,  How can it be?
That you my King would die for me?
Amazing Love, I know it’s true.
It’s my joy to honor you, in all I do, I honor you.
