“Be still and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 (NASB)
Let’s be honest—leadership is noisy.
There are voices everywhere: telling you what to scale, when to pivot, how your brand should appear, and who you must become to be considered “legitimate.” And yet, in all this external noise, it’s the internal confusion that’s most deafening.
But what if God is not confused about your calling, even if you are?
The Myth of Perfect Clarity
Many leaders believe that if their calling is truly from God, the path forward will be crystal clear. But Scripture tells another story:
-
Abraham was told to go—without knowing where (Hebrews 11:8).
-
Moses had a calling but hesitated at the burning bush, unsure and unqualified.
-
Esther didn’t set out to be a queen who would save a nation—she simply obeyed one step at a time.
What we see in each of these examples is this: clarity often follows obedience. Not the other way around.
Faith-driven leaders don’t wait for the fog to lift—they learn to walk with God in it.
Your Calling Isn’t Lost—It’s Layered
If you’ve ever whispered, “I feel like I missed my calling,” let me assure you—you didn’t.
You’ve likely outgrown the old version of it.
God doesn’t hand out static assignments. He calls us into relationship—and within that relationship, your calling unfolds in layers, through seasons.
The question isn’t “Did I miss it?” but rather, “Am I still listening?”
Leading from Promise, Not Pressure
Psalm 46:10 doesn’t just say “Be still.” It says, “Cease striving.”
That’s a holy invitation:
-
Not to stop working, but to stop worrying.
-
To lead from identity, not insecurity.
-
To rest in the truth that what God starts, He also sustains.
When you lead from pressure, you will:
-
Burn out trying to prove you’re enough.
-
Make decisions rooted in fear, not faith.
-
Chase platforms instead of pursuing purpose.
But when you lead from promise, you will:
-
Make decisions that align with your values.
-
Rest in your God-given assignment.
-
Grow at the pace of grace, not the grind of comparison.
Your Identity Is the Anchor
If you’re feeling stuck or unclear—it’s not time for a new title. It’s time to reconnect with the truth of who you are in Christ.
Let me remind you:
-
You are called, even in uncertainty.
-
You are chosen, even when overlooked.
-
You are equipped, even when underqualified.
God does not consult your emotions to confirm your future.
Reflection Questions
- What have I been striving for that God never asked me to carry?
- Where have I allowed confusion to delay obedience?
- What would it look like to trust God’s pace in this season?
