How to Realign with Your Values When Purpose Feels Foggy
Your Calling….something that you’ve likely pondered very often. If so, and if you have become confused as to what that is, you are not alone.
Listen to Episode 59 of Entrusted to Lead: God Is Not Confused About Your Calling
Feeling Unclear About Your Calling? You’re Not Alone.
Have you ever found yourself asking:
- “Am I really called to this?”
- “Why isn’t this clearer by now?”
- “Am I doing enough?”
If so, you’re not the only one. These questions echo through the hearts of many purpose-driven leaders—especially those who love Jesus and long to make an eternal impact.
In Season 3, Episode 59 of the Entrusted to Lead podcast, I speak directly to this tension—and offer a gentle reminder:
God is not confused about your calling, even when you are.
We’ve Been Taught to Chase Vision… But What If That’s Not the Answer?
Vision is everywhere in leadership circles. We’re told to define it, cast it, chase it. But what happens when the vision runs dry or starts to feel blurry?
Here’s what I’ve learned over time: Clarity doesn’t come from chasing vision. It comes from realigning with your values.
Let’s break it down:
- With values, you can walk in peace—even in uncertainty.
- Vision can shift with seasons.
- Values stay steady.
- Vision rallies teams.
- Values sustain your heart.
- Without values, vision wears you out.
When Performance Replaces Peace
Many leaders I coach—and yes, myself included—have performed their way through burnout. We’ve led well on the outside while quietly unraveling on the inside.
That’s why I wrote Promise Over Purpose — to remind us that your identity isn’t defined by titles, performance, or productivity.
Your identity is rooted in God’s promises.
Psalm 46:10 says,
“Be still and know that I am God.”
In Hebrew, “be still” translates more closely to cease striving, surrender, release.
In seasons of confusion, we don’t need another checklist.
We need to breathe, be still, and realign with what’s true.

Real Clarity Comes from Knowing Your Values
When your calling feels cloudy, go back to your core values—your internal compass.
Your values help you:
- Make aligned decisions
- Set healthy boundaries
- Lead from peace, not pressure
- Stay faithful to your true identity
But here’s the key: If you haven’t named your values, you can’t lead from them.
That’s why I created the Leadership Clarity Quiz — a free tool designed to help you discover what’s truly driving your leadership.

Reflection Prompts for Realignment
Take a few quiet minutes this week to reflect on these journal prompts:
- What values have actually been driving my decisions lately?
- Am I leading from faith or from fear?
- Which of my true values have I been honoring?
- Where have I been compromising?
- What’s one small way I can realign this week?
Then declare this:
“This week, I choose to lead from ____, not ____.”
Examples: peace, not urgency. courage, not comfort. clarity, not confusion.
For the Leader Who Needs the Reminder
This episode is for the one who keeps showing up, even when the next step feels blurry.
It’s for the faithful leader who wonders if they missed it somehow.
It’s for you—if you need Heaven’s reminder that you’re not behind, you’re not broken, and you’re not forgotten.
You are becoming.
And the God who called you is still faithful to finish what He started in you.
